Bridges

Fill the gap and rediscover the comfort of eating, speaking and smiling with ease.

A dental bridge is a fixed restoration used to replace a missing tooth by using the neighbouring teeth for support. Depending on the case, the bridge may be secured with crowns on the supporting teeth or bonded in place using a discreet metal or ceramic wing. Unlike removable dentures, bridges remain fixed in the mouth and do not need to be taken out for cleaning.

We assess each patient individually to determine the most appropriate treatment option based on their oral health, the position of the gap, and their long term needs.

Types of bridges

The most suitable type of bridge depends on the number of missing teeth and the location of the gap. Following a full assessment, your dentist will recommend either a traditional fixed bridge or an adhesive (Maryland) bridge.

Traditional fixed bridge This option uses crowns on the teeth adjacent to the gap to anchor the bridge securely. The replacement tooth is attached to these crowns, creating a strong and durable restoration.

Adhesive (Maryland) bridge This minimally invasive option uses a metal or ceramic wing bonded to the back of a neighbouring tooth. It usually requires little or no preparation of the supporting tooth and is a conservative alternative to a traditional bridge.

Dental bridge replacing a missing tooth

Why patients choose a bridge

  • Fills the gap. Restores a natural-looking tooth where one is missing.
  • Fixed in place. Unlike a denture, it stays put - nothing to remove.
  • Protects your bite. Stops neighbouring teeth drifting out of position.
  • Custom-made. Shade-matched and shaped to suit your smile.
